About me
Hi, I’m Amanda Macbeth (yes, that really is my surname) and I am a potter based in a small rural village in Staffordshire, UK. The design of my work and the colours of my glazes have been inspired by the beautiful countryside around me (have a look at my Glaze Guide to find out more). My pots are thrown on the wheel from Staffordshire stoneware clay which when fired, imparts an iron-flecked quality to the final pieces.
But I haven’t always been a potter. For 20-odd years I was a graphic designer and ended my career as head of creative at a luxury London brand. I made my first pot in 2015 at a ceramics evening class while looking for some work/life balance. I was hooked and it became a consuming hobby until 2021 when we moved here and I started working with clay full-time, a journey which you can read more about on Instagram.
